Brazilian Soil Health Partnership researcher presents study at ISTRO 2024
The Brazilian Soil Health Partnership is proud to announce the participation of researcher Karina Polizeli in the International Soil Tillage Research Organization (ISTRO) International Congress, an event that brings together global experts in soil management, field traffic, and agricultural sustainability.
In her presentation, titled "Livestock Integration and the Role of Roots on Soil Physical Quality Under Conservation Agriculture", Karina highlighted the importance of conservation practices in pastures to improve soil physical quality through root development.
The study, conducted at the Center for Technological Innovation in Agriculture (NITA) in southern Brazil, investigated the residual effect of root attributes on soil physical properties in different livestock systems, including crop-livestock integration and crop-livestock-forest integration. The results showed that adopting conservation practices maintains adequate physical attributes and contributes to sustainable soil use without the need for expansion into new agricultural areas.
Karina also introduced the Brazilian Soil Health Partnership, a network of 45 researchers committed to excellent science for responsible soil use. The partnership reinforces Brazil's commitment to scientific research and the dissemination of sustainable agricultural practices.
Participation in ISTRO reaffirms the role of the Brazilian Soil Health Partnership in scientific leadership and in building solutions to global challenges related to soil management and health.
