Brazilian Agriculture and Sustainability Featured at the G20 and B20

At the G20 and B20 meeting held in Cuiabá, the significant contribution of Brazilian agriculture to food production and the advancement in the use of more sustainable management practices, such as direct planting and integrated systems, were presented.

During the event, the role of the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP) and CCARBON/USP - Center for Carbon Studies in Tropical Agriculture in training professionals, generating research, disseminating information and promoting innovations for the agricultural sector was highlighted.

One of the points emphasized was the importance of soil health as the foundation for productive and resilient agriculture in the face of the challenges posed by climate change. Two important advances were presented as practical examples of this work:

  • Brazilian Soil Health Partnership: a national alliance dedicated to promoting soil health in Brazil.

  • KITSohma: an innovative tool for assessing soil health directly in the field (access here).

Participation in the event reinforced Brazilian agriculture's commitment to sustainability and innovation, demonstrating how national initiatives are aligned with the sector's global challenges.

The event organizers were congratulated for the relevance of the discussion and the opportunity to highlight Brazil's leading role in global agriculture.
